Exclamation Speed Modelling Challenge #158 – Rambo knife.

Speed Modelling Challenge #158 – Rambo knife.
    *************************************************
    Rules:

    1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
    2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger.
    3. LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
    4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
    5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
    *************************************************

This week's topic is : Rambo knife! - You know you want to! Is it a murderous weapon or a brilliant bottle opener? Who cares. Lots of different base designs to choose from, or design your own. Some even come with a survival kit in the handle. It's up to you. I will also accept *any* weapon used in the rambo films. http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Rambo_III

"You know what you are... what you're made of. War is in your blood. Don't fight it. You didn't kill for your country. You killed for yourself.. "

    Time Limit - 60 minutes.

    Deadline: Wed. 15th February 2012. 22:00 G.M.T

Nice topic . Unfortunately way too busy developing on Android the last month(s). I hope to join the challenges next month when everything should calm down a bit.

Look forward to your return CobraSoft.

Knocked up a quick one. Needs more work on the teeth and I have left room for some string on the handle grip, but unfortunately I ran out of time.

It's a lot harder than it first seems.

Iain is much better than I, so that explains why my first hour I ended up with only a blade without notches and it looks like its rubber. Maybe its another Fisher Price item.

This could be the 1st no entry speed challenge, I will take a poly ball.

It's not that hard. You can design your own..... Maybe Rambo was having an off day and had to use a pen knife.

    What about the F1 grenade?

I used the array tool set @ 15 times to get the teeth, then it's just a simple drag around to get your blade.

    Maybe.

Ok, 60 minutes for modelling and of course I run out of time.
    Plugin Rope Editor Plus used.

I tried to do little procedural texturing for that thing.
And first time used some weight map for textures.
So at least I learn something new.

@XswampyX - Your "quick one" knife model is so good.. damn!

I am waiting to see others works.

Edit to add :- Oh, nice knife Creativetone. Love the texture on the cutting edge..... wish I'd thought of that. Very good!

Probably not ready to run with the big dogs but here is a try. 40 minutes modeling and tweaking and another 20 or so on texturing (my weak point).
