    Storyboard view has been in AVID since I started using it back in '95 and maybe before.

    New to the iPad for them though.

    Yeah, but Avid's storyboard view is pathetic. All it enables you to do is line up your clips so you can drag them into the timeline in sequence. And it feels about as digital as moving cards. It doesn't even snap them to a grid. around on a table. It doesn't get updated if you move clips around on the timeline.

    SE's is WAY better!!!!!

    Actually "auto assemble" by lasso-ing multiple clips in storyboard mode has also been around prior to SpeedEdit.

    But you are correct that editing the timeline wouldn't update the storyboard view. To my knowledge it was strictly a one way operation.

    SpeedEdit also had a neat way of updating the storyboard view as update segments. Making the transition from title/placeholders, to still artwork, to previs, to finished element very smooth. (Avid might have something like that but I've never seen it and I don't edit in Storyboard mode so I wouldn't know.)
