    Re-market Lightwave 11

    What would you put here?

Here is my attempt at re-writing the front page blurb.

I thought we could start a thread where the LW user base submit their own marketing blurbs to reflect a better tone on what is after all a good product.

I have provided a doctered image of the front page art where you can overlay your own blurb. The font is 'Arial Narrow'

You can just post it as text if you don't want to use photoshop. This might be preferable given the limits of the forum to display an image

I followed Newtek's own guide by not listing specific features but keeping
everything fairly general. But you don't need to do that.

    Some rules.

    1.Joke parody's are tempting, but please don't.

    2. This is not a place to critique the efforts of fellow contributer's.

3.In order to save space on the thread, if not subbmitting then don't comment.

The point here is not to start a discussion so much as provide Newtek's marketing people some alternative ideas and hopefully get them to change that ancient blurb of theirs.

A good starting point when designing your blurb, think of people coming to the site (for what ever reason) and what you need to say to them to keep them interested. Don't preach to the converted.

The word limit is what ever fit's into the given space without looking too cluttered, the blank slate art is helpful for seeing how it fits.

Nice try. I see an issue with the first line of your copy, "LightWave now delivers everything expected from a contemporary 3D application and more."

And the first question that would get asked is, "Fluids?"

    Expectations must be managed.

Okay, but read the rules. No comments unless you submit your own version
(And you made me break one of my own rules).

But in reality, what you are actually doing here is insulting them. Please don't take this the wrong way, but they would just as soon take marketing advice from the forum as they would to let AutoDesk create their web site. You may think you are helping and I'm sure your intentions are sincere, but do you honestly think the marketing staff (as limited as they may be) is going to say "Yeah boss, we revamped some marketing on our website. Good thing those forum guys are on the ball and provided us with materials that we should have been completely capable of doing ourselves.... you know... since that's what you pay us to do."

Although well intentioned, I think you are embarking on a fruitless endeavor. But by all means, if it makes you (or anyone for that matter) feel good, I see no reason to stop. Who knows ... prove me wrong - I have no problem eating crow.

Thumbs down What I really think!

NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CURRENT LightWave 11 Marketing!

I too believe that NewTek should be open to constructive criticism but not "defacing" their Trademarks and or Copyrights. Unless NewTek Marketing has opened up a "Suggestion/Submission Thread," No one should be making requirements or setting rules for a Thread.

So here is the blank slate art you can work with, all legals have been removed so as some people have suggested.

My original attempt, which isn't much better than what is currently on Newtek's site, but you get the idea.

Yes I believe they need help, and I can't believe they would be insulted.
Anyway, if you're brave enough to put forward a submission go ahead. If not, there are plenty of other threads for you to comment in. My rules where simply to keep the slush pile down to a level where if Newtek where to monitor it they would just see submissions and not extraneous commentary.

Probably hardly necessary since I think this thread will die quickly from lack of interest.

My eyes must be getting worse. I think I need new glasses, because the Lightwave trademark and logo are all blurry.
