Speed Modelling Challenge #128 - Retro Games

Speed Modelling Challenge #128 - Retro Games
    *************************************************
    Rules:

    1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
    2. Post a wireframe and a render at 800x600 or larger.
    3. LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
    4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
    5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

    *************************************************

This week's topic is: Retro Games.

This has kind of been covered before but this time, it can be a retro console or a toy or anything inspired by either. Retro is the key!

    Time Limit - 60 minutes.

    Deadline - Wed. 13th July 2011. 22:00 G.M.T.

Hmm... I might have to think a bit on this one. Souns good though.

Um... out of curiocity... the rules say Modeler SHOULD be used... but does that mean we MUST use it? (I'll admit, I can model a little faster in another soft only because I spent a bit more time with it)
That being said, I'll still use Modeler, just wondering.

Yep sorry - I've always meant to change that. It has to be Modeler.
Otherwise it wouldn't be a LW challenge.

Rendering can be done 3rd party though as it's a modelling challenge.

My much loved, sadly missed Gameboy.

They churned out some great games for this old feller considering the terrible visuals and audio they had to work with.

@Iain: Thank you, sir. I'm not in love with the composition or the render even, but it was fun to model.

Here is my entry. Haven't seen these being played with in many years so I guess you could call them retro. Modeling < 5 minutes. I'm not sure if i got the rubber ball how I wanted. Hard to tell. I also modeled out an xbox, but that isn't really retro and I went over the time limit. The aspect ratio is kinda funny, everything looks skinny from my computer.

For anyone that gets excited about process:

Thanks for the comments, and everyone (Iain, TripD, a sandwhich) is banging out the usual high quality work.

I've been uploading ZBrush videos for some sculpts done recently, so I thought I'd do a video for LightWave, too. Below is a link to a time-lapse view at the modeling process (warts and all) with the Photoshop compositing at the end. Nothing is labeled, there isn't audio, etc. but if it's entertaining/useful to anyone- fantastic.

Great stuff. Liked the video BlueApple.

    But what's the game?

    Edit to add the wires.
