    f10 render with bg problem

This is my first time posting a question so bear with me. I am trying to do an animated logo with a jpeg pic in the background. I loaded the pic and all works well when I do an f9 render, however when I try to render the scene with an f10 render the bg appears black. I have tried adjusting settings in the global render column all to no avail. Any suggestions?

Is your BG a sequence or just a still? Are you doing a F9 and F10 on the same frame(s)?

The bg is a still shot of stars and both the f9 and f10 render are on the same frame

During your animation do you have something that covers the BG?

Just to be clear, on a F10 your BG is all black or goes to black somewhere during the animation?

What you see in a F9 should be the same as what you get in a F10.

the logo is simply text with no other objects in the way of the bg. The bg stays black throughout the entire scene when done with an f10 render. With an f9 render it is perfect.

    Hm, odd.

The quick workaround would be to map your star bg to a poly and then put that in your scene.

Or render our your logo as a pass and then put everything back together in a comp program like AfterEffects.

What version of LW are you using?

How are you saving your 'F10' render? If you're saving to an animation with an alpha channel, that is what should be happening. I'm not sure if you've heard this advice before, but in case you didn't, it's never too late for this: never render an animation to anything other than still sequences. Render to stills, and then assemble them in an animation later, using either LW or a compositor (I use VirtualDub), so you can experiment with codecs, compressions and all that stuff at heart's content.

In this case: render to something without an embedded alpha channel (24 bit, not 32 bit, so like PNG24). The alpha channel will cut out the background.

I have tried rendering to stills and compile them afterwards and to animation with the same results. I am using version 9.6 on a macbook pro. I will try the png format. Haven't tried that yet.

I have also tried a complete new scene and just placed the bg image in and the same results with an f10 render.....black screen. With an f9 render it comes up perfect.

Can you post the BG image you're using? Hard to tell if this is user error or a bug.

I tested it out with just the tiny version and things work on my end. I'm on a PC though.

Why use a png format? And what format were you using on your F10 render?
Can you take a screen shot of your render options output panel?
The fact that the F9 is okay and the F10 is flawed points to the output options as your stumbling point.
