Weird shader effect reveals mesh tessalation

I have this model that I placed a skin shader on via nodes. All presets, just adjusted the color, output was material, input material on surface.

I was doing some renders with radiosity. On the surface of my model, I was able to see the mesh density through the "skin" of my model. You can see faint lines that make up the mesh.

I switched to a basic surface with no nodes, and the effect is gone.

Has anyone had any issues with the skin shader that causes this effect?

The first image is the simple skin shader, the second image is a basic surface.
