Cool Speed Modeling Challenge #115 Tooltime

    Speed Modeling Challenge #115 Tooltime
    *************************************************
    Rules:

    1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
    2. Post a wireframe and a render at 800x600 or larger.
    3. LightWave should be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
    4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
    5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

    *************************************************

    This weeks topic is:
    Tooltime.
Spring is in the air and I was thinking of tools to be used in gardens, but since we already had one of those recently you are free to use the word "tool" in any way you see fit. Be it a working tool, something from Tim Allen's "Tooltime" or a software tool ??

    Time Limit - 60 minutes.
    Deadline - Wednesday 13th of April 2011, 2200 GMT.

Would it possible to resubmit entries? My hammer from the emergency topic would work nicely.

See the speedmodeling challenges as a learning process. Surely you can resubmit a previous model, but I'd suggest to re-model it, see if you can be quicker and/or better with it.
I will favour new models over already previously created ones, just for the whole process that gets put into it.. thinking about the subject, study it, model it and eventually texture, light and render it. All within a weeks process. Speedmodeling challenges should stay a challenge.
That said.. looking forward to any model posted!

Plz, also keep the thought of sharing created models in the Free Speed model thread on this forum (http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101465). Something started by Richard Feeney and I would guess helped out many guys and girls..

I agree 100% with you Charly!

I should submit some models on that thread, but I'm not sure which ones are good enough to be in that impressive list . If anybody knows a model of me and wants it, just ask me, and I'll put it there.

Btw, I miss Richard in these challenges. I hope he's ok...

Well, as said already, the point is to learn and improve so submitting old models would really defeat the purpose of the challenges.

Here is a drafting pencil, my favorite "tool". The model came out great, the render not so much. Modeling 15 minutes. In the first render with the pink background ignore the tip of the clip, had some polygon problems that I corrected for the next few renders. And yes, it is supposed to have flat edges in a dodecahedron shape.

Here is another, don't really know if it makes it any better, but it differs. Sorry for the fact that it is floating in every frame.

Went a bit over the time on this one. Spent way too long on the chuck and gears. About 90 mins.

(edit) Did you use ArtW's plugin to render that 'wireframe'??? Looks nice.
