    LightWave 10 Modeler speed

Just wanted to say, I am impressed with the speed enhancement with Modeler 10's interface. Running it in Bootcamp on an original Mac Pro, the zoom/pan just flies. a 100,000 poly object in 9.6 can stutter, and has to move to only updating the viewport you're zooming in on to function properly, with LW10 all ports zoom in/out with no stutter on the redraw at all. Even the buttons on the interface seem snappier. Looks like I have to start using it

i see no improvments in speed of lw 10 modeler. you must be running multitexture with all off and buffer mode.

Can you show us screen grab of 9.6 OpenGL settings and 10 so we can compare what you've had check on because modeler10 is no faster here and i can zoom/pan 2 million of polys in 9.6 ?

I'm seeing a drop in LW10 modeler performance for panning in 64-bit Mac OS X. Rotation is super-smooth, but panning is always jittery, even if there's only a simple low-poly object in the scene.

Hmm...my apologies. Indeed, the Buffered (VBO) was turned on by default - I've been running with it in Streaming mode on 9.6. Also Reflections were turned on in 9.6 and off in 10, which also kills the update speed. I *am* seeing a slightly faster redraw in all viewports in 10 when panning and rotating with the shown settings, in comparison to 9.6, but nothing to write home about.

Bugger - I thought something good had happened. Still - it looks nicer

Hehe yes that's more like it, Lw10 just have better default settings and some people think it's faster 'coz they usually have/had wrong settings in 9.6 while they tested .

Hehe - I can take it on the chin I'm yet to check whether I get the same instability with Buffered VBO turned on that I do in 9.6 though. I knew there was a reason I have streaming turned on, and I tend to get crashes with VBO on.
