    Pirates

I started this one way back.
I had to stop because I was getting no where in the end, I was disheartend because I was getting abused by this one guy, and I just gave up.

So I recently I decided to play more with fiber fx, I found out quickly that I had to work around some anoying bugs, but I continued because I was liking the results I was getting, and here is the result.

I did a fair bit of tweeking with photoshop. seperating the layers, character and background etc.

    It's 1024 x 768. Is that too small?

FiberFX is tough to work with for sure.
    Keep it up.

Nice model and render. I've also struggled with FiberFX, but with a lot of time, work and trial and error, I've also gotten some good results. One thing that may help the realism of the hair. Did you use one set of hair guides? I've found that having two or three layers of guides, each with an application of fiberFX gives better results-- especially if doing an animation. Then you can have slightly different settings on each layer, giving more variety to the shape of the hair strands. In this render the small waves seem too uniform to look really convincing. They look good at first glance, but looking closer the uniformity detracts. With two or three layers you would get a lot more variety.
