Angry VM switcher is "missing" a button (compared to DUO.) Can we re-map?

My university's TV-station has a Tricaster DUO, and on my advice they just bought a "Tricaster VM" switcher.

Unbelievably, the VM is "missing" a button compared to the DUO's interface. The VM has these keys on both rows:

CAM1, CAM2, CAM3, VGA, VCR, PIC, BKG, BLK

    But the DUO has these:

CAM1, CAM2, CAM3, VGA, VCR, PIC, TXT, BKG, BLK

(The "TXT" source is the overlay graphic.)

As a result, when we hit the BKG key, it goes to TXT. When we hit the BLK key, it goes to BKG. We can not go to BLK using the VM switcher, which we need to do.

What should I do? Can we re-map the VM's keys somehow?

I don't think so, but you can get a creative type from your institution to make you a new button. The tops of the buttons pop off and there is a printed-on acetate label underneath. A quick trip to Hobby Lobby or Staples to get printable acetate and you're good to go. Just print, cut apply, replace button.

Yes that would be the only option would be to create new button covers. So that it matches more the interface. If you would like give me a call at 210-341-8444.
