When I drag clips into the time line it starts the clip a few frames in and ends it a few frames from the end... What do I change to have it show the full clip start to finish when first placing it in the time line?

for restoring the in/out points to the first/last frame of the clip, press the 'g' key on the highlighted clip.
If you wish to make this a global behavior, change the setting in the Preferences panel listed as Automatic In/Out Offsets to No Offset.

Don't stream it - TriCast it!
In Preferences change Editing > Automatic In/Out Offset to "No Offset".
