    It shoots in h264 format, so most editing systems struggle to work with the footage unless it's transcoded. Premiere Pro is just about the only one I can think of that can supposedly edit native dslr h264 footage.

    The new version of final cut (supposedly due any day now) is almost certainly going to support it too. After all, iMovie on the iPad manages to edit h264 streams in realtime on a mobile device!

    I edit H.264 using Speed Edit almost every day.

    I'm very excited about this cam, but there are a few issues worth mentioning. First up, the ergonomics aren't great - it's very front heavy (the lense weighs more than the body). More seriously, there are supposedly some moire issues (a common problem with DSLR video), so fine details tend to flicker and strobe. Finally, the audio inputs on it aren't balanced (xlr), so audio recording isn't "pro".

    Panasonic have made their own "video" version of their DSLR tech, the AG-HGF100. It's considerably more expensive (about $5k) but solves all those issues. I'm hoping canon does something similar too. I love my 550d (rebel T2i in the states), but it's not well designed for shooting video.

    Newtek should really pimp this feature then - as it's a rare thing for edit software to be able to manage that

    I have one of these - it's a very nice camera (in fact, I'm shooting my film with it) - it does however suffer from the same moire and aliasing issues as the Canon 5D/7D/Ti.

    A better choice if you have the money (which we don't ) is the Panasonic AG-AF100/101 - it's more finely tuned for filmmaking (but is 2x the cost of the NEX).
