Thread: official siggraph 2010 discussion forum

I have thought about it a bit more and I think James Cameron could be one of the secret celebrity appearances at the Newtek booth. How likely do you guys think this is? It makes sense to me since Rob Powers is now working for Newtek and he has the James Cameron connection. If my guess turns out to be true this would be very cool! I'm [utting my money on Mr Cameron.

I am willing to bet cash that SIGGRAPH 2010 will be an Avatar lovefest, and every company under the sun will spotlight the work their tool did on the film.

Anyway I do hope to meet some of you this year.
Just look for the guy wearing a red Nationals Baseball Cap.

Yes that's probably going to be very true. He who has the biggest "Avatar lovefest" wins!

This http://www.newtek.com/pressrelease.php?viewpr=160 hints at Dick Van Dyke and James Cameron appearances even more now. I am looking forward to see how they plan to demo this Core stuff.

I doubt it's Cameron, but in any case I'll be there in front row .

The press release mentions the Bullet Rigid Body Dynamics system... maybe we will see some demos of that after all. Not being a HARDCORE member, I'm not in the know of what's currently in the latest test release.

And I'm going to be there one day. Not sure which one yet, as I can only get one day off work.

I'd really love to go, but haven't decided yet whether I can (project deadlines at work). Anyone seen any good deals on nearby places to stay (as I presume the Westin's a lost cause in that regard, ACM member or not), in case I do go?

I don't think he has any online gallery but if you want to see some of his work you can see it in this Siggraph 2004 video of him onstage at the Lightwave booth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1J9kfDCAmU.

It depend of your target. Video streaming matters if they are at NAB, at SIGGRAPH you need to show your products in different ways. Even SIGGRAPH TV ended their streaming years ago.

    You got that wrong.

    Every thing is free.

you only need to register if:

    • You feel like it
    • You want to watch a live webinar.

Siggraph videos will appear on the front page of tv.newtek.com.

    The benefits to registering are,

    • allows you to download the video
    • rate videos, and
    • create your own playlist (bookmarks)

In the near future we will be creating a "Training" section in tv.newtek.com - A place that contains all training videos. You'll still be able to view them without registering... however, if the video has assets associated with it, then registration would be required to download those assets, which of course, is free anyway.
