FiberFX - difficulty controlling small areas

    Hey all,

I've been trying to mess with FiberFX on a character but Im having problems controlling the fur in areas. My current model isnt unwrapped so Im controlling the fur with weight maps.
My goal is to have this character completely covered in short fur, getting shorter around his hands, feet, etc (think of a stuffed animal).
I like the results I get on the torso and larger areas, but getting down to the finer areas, such as hands, finger tips and underside of feet gives worse results. Ive uploaded two images to help illustrate my road block.

I have the weight map being fed into the scale and fiber width, along with being connected to the length node input under 'Edit Node'. Is there a better/different way to do this?

    Thanks in advance!
