Well first you are talking about two different industries with two major different requirements.

First for games you are dealing with low poly objects.

    Different projects had different requirments.

It depends on how many ears your object has. If it has no ears it usually falls into the 'No Ears' catagory. Generally objects in this category are quicker to build. Well that is normally the case but with the exception of lobsters and air-craft carriers.

.06 to .095 days is the maximum time allowed for washroom breaks in the industry. Thus, it must be around the 2.5 day mark.

That is actually longer than I would of thought.

Oh and it is nice to see someone from Digital Domain around the forums.

There is no average turn around time. There is a maximum time which is dictated by your boss. The minimum time is anything less then the maximum time. The challenge is to get the job done within the maximum time in such a way and at a prescribed level of quality as to continue receiving a paycheck.

It also depends on the role of the model. A background film model would take a lot less than the lead char for a game. likewise Smęgol would have taken a lot longer to make than any other efect in the film.
