    Metal bird W-I-P

Test render of a metal bird we're having to create for a short film, deadline for all working coming very close now...!

I began modelling the body / torso, but had to hand to Flakester to finish the model as I got involved in a music video.

He then gave it back to me to sort materials and paint textures / bumps in ZBrush.

Then it went back to him for rigging and this is a test pose and render to see how it was looking.

Could use a couple of tweaks more but seeng as there's almost zero budget and now almost no more time, it'll have to do - ha ha!

Preety funny. Must be a fun bird to listen, not only when singing and moving in general.
I like the wings, are you going to animate it?

Does it have a jet engine that comes out of his rear? Looks like it.

Parts like the torso/back, head and the way the beek is attached to the head i don't get them much. Make him look heavy. The wings are great cause you see them both as metal and lightweight.

As for the render i think that is a tiny bit over exposed and you can reduce that exposure and after correct the yellowish color in photoshop i post production.

Looking forward to see it flying.

    Cheers

Hey guys, pretty much bang on there - the director wanted us to use Clash of the Titans as reference.

We know it wouldn't quite work mechanically, and would likely fall over due to imbalance, but we are working from the sketches the director has had drawn up by an illustrator. We have changed some parts, several times in fact due to the director's whims, but we've just had to to get on with and get it done due to time and money constraints!

Still, it's been pretty fun so far really.

    Glad ya like it.

The film is called Trolley (I think!) - it's funded by Screen West Midlands, one of the short films that are done this time of year, called Digishorts.
See here http://www.digishorts.co.uk/index.ph...id=7&Itemid=40 and here http://www.screenwm.co.uk/swm_channel/digishorts/

It'll be shown in the local CineWorld cinema I think, and festivals....
