For all intents and purposes Lightwave sits quite nicely along side Carrara3d, Bryce 3d and Hexagon 3d
STILL for sale
no development
o/s bug fixes only.
in august they lost 2 main developers
... newtek have had no developer for modeller for what now? 6-8 years?
now no render developer either...
the press release said nothing of anything new...
.. i implore you to put your logic head on and maybe re read what you wrote with a clear view of exactly what you're hoping for.
if blender has a treasure chest of goodies you'd like to...
who is "simon coombs".. it reads VERY much like someone i already know but has a different real name.

go fund who exactly?
people already 'fund' newtek.

that would cost time, money and staffing... what is in i for vizart who have made lightwave all but 'invisible" on their website.
they are a video company who bought another video company.
To quote:
The new president, Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica...
"the war is over, we lost, this is about survival"
.... hence people moving to other options.

i hear a known "big cat" in this industry is going to fix this situation. just hang in there people.
no one has said that from newtek or vizrt
speculation is just that.. could be any number of things
Limo?

newtek = silence
... what's new!
well he certainly knows octane.. he works there!
Deuce Bennett
Ben Vost
are not engineers btw
ben used to do documentation for example
so that's a maximum of 6 not 8 if they are still working there on lightwave and have not been moved to...
I wonder what the state of beta testers are if the render dev chap has left newtek at the end of august 2020.
No point beta testing the renderer if there's no developer to fix/expand it....
Found a growing youtube playlist that helps seasoned Lightwaver's take advantage of some extra tools like UV editing, sculpting, 2d animation/drawing, gpu rendering, video editing, compositing,...
i think you chose the wrong company name whilst writing about 'abandonment"
:newtek:
when i bought 3ds max 2.5 in 1999 (free upgrade to 3.0 also) they bundled character studio in at no extra cost..i just paid rrp for 3ds max.
still the ik/fk thing isn't a "lightwave only secret" ...
3ds max 1.0 with character studio biped rig - 1996 24 years ago.
5 mins in shows ik/fk back in 2007

remember the $495 is only for the next 30 days..it's a discount...after that i guess it will resume it's usual price point of $695
Newtek - you had ONE job to do in modeller.... ONE!
good luck, hope something happens!
