I'd rather Lightwave actually specialize in something.
Yup exactly, subscriptions are for short term investments for when you just need to get something done but don't necessarily need the technology later in the year. Stacking up subscriptions...
I'll chime in just because I can. For me to buy into a subscription and loose a perpetual license capabilities, the latest software has to be freaking amazing and I have to use it constantly. Well...
Yeah, I was going to say there was a time when Lightwave was standing out as a Modeling and Rendering Package, I used it for that quite often for concept design and illustration purposes, but that...
I've often wished Lightwave would just excel at something and stop trying to be everything. He doesn't listen when I express those thoughts.
Put messiah's tools inside of layout. If it's even possible that would be a nice addition. They do have a lot of similar workflows, I often said in the past that messiah is what I wished layout was....
Sounds about right Rayek. Not saying Affinity photo and design is out of this world, but I like them and their pricing is nice and friendly to say the least. I don't need page layout per say but...
I really don't like adobe software. It's all bloated and convoluted. I won't pay for it personally. I guess it's just familiarity that keeps it in the high risers.
never got that email lol.
mm yeah I would never dare do that in a "traditional" polygon modeler. I use Zbrush for rounded hard surfacing and booleans. Congratz!
Roger dodger. Anyone use the animated sculpting for corrective morphs yet?
Yeah, I like chaosgroup but it appears that perpetual upgrades are going away there as well. That means I have to use arnold with my one and only perpetual maya/ maintenance license (that has the...
I have no problem at all using specialty software. If lightwave (or any other piece of software) does anything that is better than other software and I have a use for it, I will use it. I wouldn't...
You knew my weakness for animated sculpting didn't you NT =P. . .damn it.
Yeah, I'm kinda surprised after all these years there is not a tool to select an entire connected set of geometry with a single click. Even then however, I often need to group several water tight...
Hi Prometheus,
Yup, I did try that method. While it usually works even when changing the topology of the mesh, my sets were breaking on me for some reason regardless. I can't remember why exactly...
I've been using LWcad's snapping tools to create somewhat precise hard surface terrain for war gaming prints. I just find modeler's capabilities in general less glitchy than other modelers I've used....
LW isn't a 3d slicer either. Some engravings would require that I would think.

I used too because a few others I worked with did but then they all moved on after the setup tab crash and so did I. I can't upload videos because I'm on satellite at the moment and it would eat up...
mmhmm, I hear yah. The program is just too large to clean up apparently. I always have my, if only lightwave allowed me to do this or that, I could be so much faster moments (Especially with the lack...
For dynamics stuff sure. MarvelousD is actually a cloth pattern modeler too though.
yup, syflex is the soft body deformer everyone should have. Does a lot of nice effects.
Oh right duh. . .lol. I forgot you had to click the find button. Then that gives you the name in the left collumn. Funny Move Plus is just called translate =P.
