Anyone know of a free 3D object converter like rhinoceros but for Mac OSX? I'm looking for a program that will convert any type of 3D object file into a LW object file.

I know there has to be a software out there that can translate any 3D object into one that Modeler can read right? For Mac?

I'm surprised no one knows about a software to convert objects into readable LW objects. I'm assuming it doesn't exist then for Mac.

Polytrans is the defacto software to go between app's, but it doesn't appear to have Mac version.

There's not necessarily a Mac version of such software. Your best bet might be to install Windows into a Boot Camp partition and run PolyTrans or whatever that way. It might even run in one of the virtualization programs like Fusion or Parallels or Sun's free VirtualBox.

I just looked up Deep exploration and found that the little package I bought as 3d exploration at $50 is now being sold for $598 per year for a 3 year subscription! Right hemisphere are taking the micky!

Running PolyTrans under CrossOver ought to be doable, as a lighter-weight option than creating a VM just for that purpose. I'll try it out, and report...

[edit] PolyTrans/NuGraf demo installed fine, but when run it puts up a splash dialog whose "Start" button never gets enabled. The dialog prevents the program from being used. Alas, would have been cool, CrossOver is very convenient when you don't want to deal with virtual machine load times.

I've never found a free one but go to www.flay.com if you're willing to spring $125? I've never tried it because the Greenbriar plug-ins are adequate for my modest needs
