Once CORE this year will be basically a Modeler.

Lets add here the AMAZING TOOLS we actually have in the industry to inspire the developers.

NT have the core forum , and only user who have purchased it are able to use it , so all there feed-back / bugs / errors / results will get posted on there , its all hush and damn well should be !, the last thing they want is a competive company comming onto an open forum and stealing there idea's / work . "which i know they do and pretty sure AD and others have already bought it ,it would be silly not too"

so i reckon you can shoot ideas all night long , let them finish core and then think about the extras !

im happy with LW hence my avatar , I Don't NO core "but i would like it "always read the small print :)

I personally reckon core could be the next best thing , but its going to take time and alot of time ,core is there chance at hitting the mainstream and getting everybody to use it , so they wont rush anything .

LW needs YOU !

edit what i would like to see is something like rebilhills character rig , implemented as standard , you know kinda motionbuiler-ish oh and another thing have you seen the algorythms and programming that goes it software like this , the programmers are the unsung heros here , and should get way more credit ,everybody seems to forget about them

by all means your ideas are great and i would reckon somebody from NT has to read every single post for research and marketing or moderation , keep spinning them out , i would love to see a 3D apps that does everything ........the guys on the core forum will help alot , you not noticed its rather quite around here !

I still say I won't be happy until LightWave can make coffee. If CORE 1.0 still requires the MrCoffee plugin, I am sooo out of here.

Was that coffee made with LightWave?
It's a good start, but I don't think it looks real enough, and there seems to be some bad noise or artifact-ing around the edges. ;)

I think it needs to be a bit stronger for my taste. :D

This way noobs (like me i know) stay out and the competitive companies buy NT software to see what they are doing. Win win

Coffee HAS to be on the way. After all, they have already confirmed that they're working on cocoa.

:caffeine::caffeine::caffeine:

Dammit. I dialed up some values but that's all I got: more coffee. Artefacts still there. 8~ Hope this will be fixed in the next version...

it looks like we finally have instancing native or did you just clone the objects? :D

I don't know about you guys. But...
I had never modeled before using NURBS until today... using Trial version os Moi3D. If you don't knw this software or NURBS, check this example http://moi3d.com/1.0/docs/Pod.wmv.
I followed that example and was preety fast. Faster than what i would take doing it in polygons. Especially the Revolve Estrude.
i liked a lot the easy snapping, the easy created guides, the way you can boolean stuff and will always look ok.

And you ask---> What are you going to do with NURBS in LW?
Well, for seting up of a cartoonish characther looks great. Same for wide Smooth Surfaces.

So a question came to my mind. Would this be avaiable in LW CORE like it is in Maya, where ppl use it back and forward with polygons in a workflow? But then i saw this---> http://www.wtools3d.com/manual/manual3.1/assets/video/Nurbs4/Nurbs4.swf

Ok, so "They are Here", does anyone use it in the workflow? What for?

NURBS and a Retopo Tool for the Core? :D

For morevideos on the software using NURBS check http://moi3d.com/resources

Cheers

Nurbs is great. Nurbs for rigid and static organic models are so easy. The problem is freezing them for animation. High poly count and messy polyflow.
Does the upcoming lwcad 4 support nurbs completely and not just nurbs primitive?

In fact Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks and others have switched in many parts from NURBS to SDS, because deformations in animation are better controlable in SDS...
But for technical stuff NURBS definitely have huge benefits.

Setting up has in get te shape. In a way a setup like the box modeling mentality. Get the Form right then add detail.
Thats why i talked about a Retopo Tool.

Fast "sketch" volumes with NURBS. Retopo the flow you want. Add detail.

This could be a way i dont know...
