Wonder,... how come they made Arnie so, well, bad...

Arnold looks like a candle light, too much sss, and the model is way off :/

ok, have a look at Arnold in Terminator Salvation 2009,
now, have a look at Keanu in The Matrix 1999,

not satisfied <:/

what u think ?

models too clean, that's the problem with 3d you can over shot the goals ,and make things just to perfect !

"luckly i dont have that problem (",) " still sweet model neverless

Edit : ye matrix really anoyed me , it was like blade you could just see the transation between live footage to CG , although i seen the work that went into both these films was massive , i just think CG just getting that good now , that soon you will not be able to tell , and that includes video games ,but in-turn i suppose thats what we are aiming for .

yes, there are so many things that could've been done better.
don't get me wrong though, it's good as far as 3D goes,...

...it's just that i'd expect way more from a big studio.
(hmm, btw, what studio did the CG? Stan Winston? ILM?)

I completely disagree. this was the best digital human I've seen yet (haven't seen ben buttons). and they weren't going for Arnold now or Arnold in t2 even. they were going for arnold in t1 or in pumping iron. and they TOTALLY nailed it imo.

Jin

btw - did you guys see the result in the movie or are you commenting on screen caps?

I'm talkin about screens , in the movies it will spot on and hard to tell .

i think if you work in 3D your mind automaticaly registers it ,and you look for faults ,which by the look of the screen's there are none ,i do that now even if its crappy advert on tv , i always try to break it down and work out hows its done, maybe its a bad thing .

yes, i've seen the movie,
have a bunch of Arnold picts/movies and i can tell you the model is quite far off.

if he was younger, i guess he should look more like he did in the original terminator movie, made 1984, but he unfortunately he does not,

if one wanted to go for a younger Arnold than the first terminator it's still off, this is Arnold 1970, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5FpADrNcNI&feature=fvst

ha!, great acting !! :p

yoda, same stuff, what they should have done, what they didn't do,..
use a reference, even if it's a puppet or a stand-in actor,

same year as The Matrix, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, made 1999

I don't know why I liked the movie exactly, I'm REALLY not one for strict action and eye candy but I really enjoyed watching. I was disappointed with the story, I guess I can excuse it and call it an "intro to something bigger"? The "Young" Arnold was really good for an animated CG human, it felt really believable. Yes, we can compare a real photo to the CG and find all the surfacing nuances that could of been in there but really I didn't feel it was necessary when everything was in motion. Also. . .usually in movies I can easily pick CG things out with my eye (especially bad motion blur) "not with just my logic" that something is composited CG into live action. My eye had a hard time telling and I do know what to look for. I dunno I was just impressed by ILM I guess.

Christian bale ruined the film...changed the story [HE actually did...] to bulk up his character and give himslf more screen time to then ruin the film and IP with mumbled lines of a tuneless sore throat riddled 10th rate performance he excelles at currently...he can do better than this....who couldn't?

fx looked good btw

i dunno,

i think mcg doomed the project.... such a wasted opportunity... this could have been what terminator was to james cameron who was previously known for pirahna 2... but he blew it....

sad.

p.s. WTF is up with skynet security?!?! they're IN THE FING BUILDING and instead of mobilizing every mechanical device with a mode of locomotion to get the leader of the human resistance they send ONE FING TERMINATOR?! wtf?! seriously....

from what i recall the time machine is known to have limits, e.g. it has to have an organic material to send things back in time... may be other limits too,...

anyway maybe T5 will be better...

..more and better Arnold time :)

as for Bale, i think his acting is alright,... nothing more...

yikes... just clicked on the gif or whatever (second picture link)... that looks awful. just plastic as f. where did you get that clip?

it looks like a prelim or test footage.

it did not look like that in the movie. i saw it twice and was paying close attention the second time and it did not look like that.

again, did you see the movie? or just that clip?

I saw the trailer during Star Trek and I thought it was a bore then and more so now...there really is nothing there to peak my interest, not even Arnie in 3d is going to do it.

Are we going to see John Conner at the age of 105 still fighting the robots. Come on, just let the idea die already and this new spin with the robot not knowing he is a robot/ or half robot has been done in BG :D

The whole thing is a silly idea, send one robot at a time...da. Just build new nukes or chemical gas and it's the end for JC. Or send a robot back a hundred years and kill his grandparents etc...too simple.

Saw Salvation today, dunno why everyone is dissing it, I thought it was alright, not as great as it could have been, and not as good as T1, T2, but waaaay better than T3 which had so many holes it was like a sieve!

One part that seemed to stick with me was the sound of the laser cannon and hydraulics on that big mother, dunno why, but it really creeped me out in the cinema!

I imagined hearing that sound coming down the street, would certainly make you run for it!

I think it's worth a watch, but don't expect the magic of T1 and T2 IMO.

Oh, and I agree with Jin, I thought the digital Arnie looked fine, could still tell it was CG, but I really liked that part in the movie.

I extracted it from the YouTube clip here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bOFoxMp64w

But would love a version on it's own, make a great PC startup sound!

The low freq synthesiser sound was new (or a modified version of the WOTW 'horn' (http://www.moviesoundclips.net/movies1/waroftheworlds/tripod.wav)).

But there is definitely the sound of the WOTW mechanics in there at 1:11

Mmmm...isn't the idea of a harvester machine also taken from War of the Worlds and maybe Matrix as well, throw in a bit of transformers look too :D

There is a size discrepancy with the Harvester, one minute it's huge like 3 storeys high and then it's smaller when the guys are near it :hey:

It's still dull....looks like it's used as a filler and doesn't add anything to the plot from what I can tell. Anyway, shouldn't that machine be made out of tougher to destroy like liquid metal...after all it has an important role to play and would do a better job as well if it can morph.

In fairness to the film, in T2 Reese does mention Skynet kept some humans alive for work, which is why the Harvester is in there I would imagine.

I liked this movie in spite of itself...
Christian Bale didn't really add anything that any unknown actor couldn't have done (perhaps even better...)
McG didn't seem to add anything to it either...wonder what it could have been in the hands of a more capable director??
It was an action movie with cool effects.
Pretty fun I thought...as long as you aren't looking for the flaws.

He was good in American Psycho.

Speaking of overrated, who does this "McG" character think he is anyway, seems a bit full of himself, after all the other titles had come up, after the main Terminator logo, I forget exactly when, there was his title 'A McG film' out there on its own, shouting 'look at me look at me'.

I like Christian Bale...he is a good actor but very much overrated.
He just happened to be the lead actor in a film with a very, very good director (Nolan) and now he is reaping the rewards for it. Not to mention acting opposite Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Heath Ledger.
That must have been the acting equivilant of a wet dream!

Sure... but that doesn't mean ILM is doing the soundfx, does it?

If we are discussing ILM, then stick to that... if we are discussing Lucasfilm as a whole, please do mention that... otherwise it is going to end up very confusing...

Saw this in the theater. Bleh. After watching Star Trek and Up, both fantastic movies this left me feeling like I had wasted my money. There were a couple of good moments but overall and entirely forgettable experience.

Christian Bale sucked in this. Then again rumor has it he didn't want to do it in the first place, that would explain it.

A remake of RoboCop? Gees... that is one of the movies that doesn't need a remake... though, A VERY GOOD sequel to it would be nice... I love RoboCop...

As far as Aliens goes (a prequel that is), there are ALOT of things that can make it a good movie, since there are so many uncharted territories... such as the Alien in the crashed ship etc...
