so what do you all think of the announcements from nintendo, sony and microsoft for the games due out soon and the new controllers for each platform?

xbox 360 'no controller'
sony wand thingy
wii motion plus

seems the handhelds arn't doing much this year...

sony psp
just a tweek on the psp in a last ditch move to get it to be a game platform
with a non umd version of the psp

i have a psp but just use it for training vids and music and a lo tech video camera.
i don't have a single game for psp...

nintendo DSi
not much going on...a few new games but nowt amazing unless i missed it..
i use my DS [old ds] for a few games like mario kart, f zero the korg ds10 syhth and R4card apps like animatee

motion plus is basically a markII controller...just more accurate than the one that ships with the Wii....

Well I was explaining my thoughts to a cousin of mine, while we were jogging up the mountains.

Regarding XBOX 360 with no controller.

The ones that I saw on those vids, those games are mostly stationary. What I mean by that is that the character stands on the same ground!

So thats all good for games that the character doesnt has to move much. Not walk, run, jump, climb etc. And there are some like the one that was described then, and some sharpshooting, duck hunting game would also do, or soemthing similar.

But all the good games, have characters that move, and do so extraordinarily! Like Raziel from LOK. He climbs up certain walls like a dog. How could the game without a controller process that? How much of a space in real world one must have to do that? And the wall that Raziel climbs up so easily, nearly walking in four in them, is somewhat 12 flats up! So must you have such a high wall and move there so as it should capture you by doing that?! Of course not! There oughta be a button that will set you in 'Wall Walk' mode, and while you walk in real world on the floor, it shows how you climb a wall on the game.

But still the problem of space persists! 12 flats is quite long distance, for someone to walk on the floor! So I was thinking perhaps they can copy some ideas from the ordinary Mouse that we have.

When we have reached a long distance to the right with the mouse on our hand, while the cursor still didnt come to our desired destination which is say the upper right, what we do is, we hold the mouse up completely, move it leftwards, at which time the cursor remains on the same place, and when we make contact with the desk again from this second leftwards position, we resume our destination rightwards to reach that destination at the upper right.

So perhaps there oughta be a special button like that, in order to play Tomb Raider in XBOX 360 with no controller! Once you click that button, it tracks youre movement and the character copis them. So you walk. But once you reach the wall of your home in real world, while the character still has some space to go, you should switch off the tracking device, go backwards, while the character remains in the same place, and once youve made some space for yourself, you can switch on the tracking device again, for it to copy your moves while you walk, and so on carry out with the game.

So the greater the space in real world the less of that switch on and off track system button that you will have, thus the better the game experience, without those 'pauses'.

XBOX 360 with no conroller for good moving games requires extra space! It should come with that requirement per games that the character moves!

But what an easy way out it would be for you to act as if youre climbing the mountain :D . While you appear like youre climbing on the floor, the character 'really' climbs steep Tomb Rider cliffs and mountains for you ;)

not seen the live stream but have watched several vidcasts from all of the major players as well as some podcasts from revision3 programs on the net

I'd have reservations about the XBOX's hands-free control.

It seems like a friend would be able to step in front of you and sabotage your game.

I am very happy about the Super Mario Galaxy 2 announcement. That's a game that deserves a sequel.

:agree: Super Mario Galaxy is the funnest game I've played in years and it would be a sin if they didn't make a sequel. The amount of programming and artistic talent that went into it is jaw dropping!
