Can we get rid of the Ajax viewer on these forums? You gave us a poll. We voted. And those of us who think the Ajax viwer is rubbish won by a wide margin.

I've beaten this drum to death in recent weeks and the only response I had was criticism from the management for raising the issue in unrelated threads, :( bummer.

But good luck. At least I can validly state what a waste of time Ajax is, and what a crock the poll was, and remain on topic

I agree that it interferes with the use of the forum. But it's glitzy which is why many sites are adding things like this as well as lots of Flash content etc... it's flashy... but degrades actual use...

Few reasons why I don't like it either.

Really really difficult to view the pics on the iPhone.
I have a tenancy to not look at the full res pics with it on - you miss all of that heavenly glory! lol (I know you can middle click in FF)

Agreed. At least, please make it an option we can turn off in our control panels.

I'll send a link to this thread to the appropriate folks. But just as an observation, if I recall correctly about 159 people voted. Maybe they haven't done anything based on the poll results because they figure if only 159 out of 90,000+ people cared enough to vote on the matter, then the fact is that the majority of users really don't care one way or the other.

Edit: It was 151, with 59 keep vs 92 ditch it.

i would guess that if you counted up the post count for everyone that voted though it would be pretty high, meaning the people that voted are the ones that are here the most often :) i actually didnt know there was a vote. i have only seen people commented here and there.

That 90,000 is a pretty deceiving number. How many are still active members? I could probably go through the list and pull out about 300 myself just from memory that no longer use the boards. How many are duplicates, lurkers, trolls, etc.... How many current licenses of Lightwave are out there?
I say break it down into two groups. People who care and don't care. Take the 89,849 people who don't care and just throw that number out. Why? Because they dont' care. Then let's take the other 151 who do care and poll them. Oooh, looks like those in favor of getting rid of the ajax viewer win out.

Thanks, I'll be here all week.

Well, that's the other thing. Some people dont' frequent the boards and may have missed the thread altogether. Perhaps if someone bumped it, it would get another few dozen votes just for showing up for certain people at the time they do check into the forums.

Hmm... only 151... that is way too low...

Is it possible to force this poll as an "in your face" thing popping up when you visit the forum... and it will do so untill you actually have voted?

I got yelled at last time I gave my opinion on Ajax in that thread.

Therefore, I'm flip-flopping. I say, keep the Ajax viewer. It is totally awesome in its awesomeness. It's how the future views the present.
+/-89,940 people can't be wrong.
Is it too late to change my vote?
