This is probably in a documnet somewhere but so far I haven't located it.

I need to launch a cruise missle from an aircraft and have it fly to a target while the aircraft is peeling off on a different heading after the missle is deployed. I have the missile as a child of the aircraft because the aircraft does some maneuvers prior and after to the missle deployment. Is there a simple method for doing this that I'm just missing?

does the navy know u have one of those?????

Na just kidding.... :)

MasterControl Null, Plane parented to MasterControl Null, MissleNull, parented to the Plane, The Missile parented to Missle null..

Nulls are you friend..

Or you can make up some motion paths in modeler and have the plane and missle follow the motion paths..

I just woke up so brain has not had coffee yet so I might be a little off on the way to do it.
I did this same thing awhile ago, lets see if i remember were i put the scene file...It was 2 capsules it was a setup scene to experiment with..

There's a plugin for that which allows you to target objects and fire missiles at them whilst still moving the target object...lots of fun but I can't remember what it's called...search flay

LW has dynamic parenting built-in now, and it's keyable.

Or you can always use the old fashioned way... Make a duplicate of your object at that frame. Animate the object dissolve to switch between the two (use a step "curve" for the animation to make sure it does not fade).
