I'm tired of these mother f-n sharks on this mother f-n plane!

Warning: extreme cheese. You just have to question whether or not this is even a real production. I just had to share for all you visual effects folks out there. This will surely be an embarassment to whatever FX group did this mess.

yeah it's a real production...there's a huge thread over on cgtalk all about it in the geneal area.

2 guys doing the cg fx for the whole film, one of them was from dave school straight after he finished learning at dave school i think.

looks like a fun film to me!

This is the sort of movie that appears on late night TV, I catch it, think what a load of bull, but then end up watching the whole thing just to see how bad it really gets!

Well seven times in a row looking at your link Hopper and I dont see cheese anywhere!? Are you saying that crappy cheese are usually issued for brekfast at the airplanes right before the shark jumps to eat it or what?

:D

Just kidding. Yeah, latest Boratic jokes these are.

Anyway. If the market is children, meaning no sex and blood'n'gore scenes, then I think that young lads are going to have even better fun, compared to what alotta bull we had to get before!

Hey, seriously, they've picked their niche well - movies for stoners! That said, I dunno how they are doing Terminators without getting sued...

and they knock out loads of films, mainly direct to DVD but they 'make money' unlike some boxoffice failures that cost millions to make.

good on 'em i say!

I used to work for a company that produced "straight to the cheap bin at Walmart" games for the playstation2.
A team of 5 people knocking out games in ~3 months (our quickest was 6 weeks)
These games sometimes grossed as much money as "Triple A" games.

Its great to see people just going for it. Hope it spurs the company onwards and upwards.

Ah-Haaa - not just me then, sitting there with a beer going "O.M.F-ing.Cripes it's bad" - but still, there you sit. Hehe... Gotta love Bad B-Movies. :D

I love B monster movies. It is a character flaw. I watched "Splinter" last night, an awesomely awful flick.

Now I said it was cheesy... I didn't say I WOULDN'T watch it.. :D

I do believe however that Lorenzo Lamas is the Hasselhoff of cheesy B-movies.

:agree:
I'm sure the producers are getting what they are paying for. You always have to work with the budget you're given and the time frame too.

just watched 'alien uprising' pre release dvd which a friend of mine rented his set to for the production the script is basiclly a rip off of aliens/alien3

http://www.newtek.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=73481&d=1242496847

their budget was 'tiny' i mean REALLY tiny!
yet they pulled off the film, the script isn't too brilliant but the acting was
mainly okay the fx were basic but worked to help the story along the props were good and the sets worked well.

will it score an oscar?...no

i still watched and hope it makes some money so their next film gets to have a bigger budget.

here's my review

overall...i think it's brilliant especially when you consider the budget they probably had to work with.

i'd put it right next to any Asylum as bargin bin B movie..if it were on the shelf in the shops..i'd probably pick it up if it was not too expensive.

acting> pretty okay across the cast some better than others none were awful none were great.
sets> good...the garage set was over used but then they didn't have much of a budget to work with i'm guessing.
props/costumes okay
lighting okay
camera> there was some excellent shots at the start with the drip bags etc
sound> good boom operator and good sound design on radio voices etc
computer fx> limited but were put to excellent use..esp the wireframe radar showing location of the troops/alien monster.

editing> mainly good but some sloppy edits

for a low budget b movie i'd give it 7/10 i found it as entertaining/more entertaining that the new version of the day the earth stood still

if i had both dvd's...i'd put this back on before the day the earth stood still.

So let's keep an eye on these guys: http://www.ironsky.net/
Unfortunately, in my opinion, the CG looks too good.... :/

I got Lake Placid 2 from Netflix the other day. The first movie was acutally pretty good, I thought, but this one was pure dreck. The CGI was horrid, the plot was basically the same as the first movie except not done as well, and the acting was on a par with a grade school play. That's an hour and a half of my life I'll never get back.

It's called entertainment, and at least it wears its cheese on its sleeve and doesn't try to cover it up with a bunch of shape changing metal!

I look forward to the sequel: "Ultra Mega Shark from mars vs. Intergalactic Arthropods from Deep Outer Space"

But the stopping the DVD was just a click of the remote away...

...and how is that different than half of the threads in the general discussion section of the NT forums? Yet we come back for more...
