I'm trying to use a clip map on some hair cards on these Left 4 Dead models I decompiled, and it's not turning out right. There's a noticeable border around Zoey's hair strands, and Bill's beard (the old guy) should look soft around the edges, not blocky. It seems like it's not taking into account the shades of grey in the clip map, and just rendering them as full on transparent or not transparent. How do I make it work properly?

clip maps use only two colors....white and black. It doesnt work on grayscales. You would need to use those in the transparency channle of those surfaces.

Just as you posted I figured that out as well. I was using a clip map OR a transparency map, and both were giving poor results on their own, and I just tried using both and it worked out much better. So thanks anyway!

Just know that using them together will probably screw up your alpha.
