View Full Version : Using SX-8 Tally with JVC CCU's ???

Hi Folks.

I just received my VT3 system with an SX-8. I found a tally pin diagram posted earlier on this forum, and have spent a couple of hours trying to get the wiring straight, using a couple of JVC RM-P210u CCU's.

The terminal posts on the back of the CCU are for one of 3 options: 1) program, 2) preview, 3) common.

In hooking up my cabling to the SX-8 tally out, I can get the CCU & camera to light Red (program) or Green (preview). The trouble is, I can do it with any of the LED leads, having nothing to do with where the switcher position is. That is, pin 1 can turn the light on, as can pin 2, pin 3, pin 4, or even one of the grounds. The light is on with whatever wire you hook onto it, rather than switching on intermittently with the switching position on the mixer.

Can anyone please tell me how to wire this system up, so that I can at least send a program tally light to each camera, when it's on? Being able to send a preview light wouldn't hurt, but I'll take what I can get.

Please advise and thanks very much,

With the current tally output there is no way to do a preview tally...

As for the main tally you need to build a circut which takes the tally pins and converts them to what you need... if you want private email me and I may have a solution for you... I just need some free time to assemble my kits I will have for sale.
