View Full Version : Toggle Switch on interface for iVGA

For live events, it is desirable to pass iVGA sources as a VGA key at high resolution directly to the IMAG projector(s) to permit the highest possible graphic screen quality. To some, this appears to eliminate the ability to record or stream the iVGA material.

Here is an easy work around for the iVGA resolution issue that I have been using for the past couple of years. When outputting to a projector (VGA) and recording/streaming, use the hot key "esc" (for a cut) or "shift/esc" (for a dissolve) to key your iVGA source for hi-res projection. Once your iVGA image in on screen, then cut to your iVGA source on the program buss to send it to record and/or streaming. Reverse the process to return to live IMAG- cut to your live source on the program buss (for record) followed by a hot key "esc" to remove the iVGA key from your projector output. Takes less than a second in real time. The downside is that on a fast paced multi-camera event you have a lot to keep track of, and the execution of multiple steps to make what appears to be one thing happen confuses many TDs.

About a year ago I had sent in a request inquiring as to the possibility of a toggle switch on the interface that, once selected, would automate the process for live event work. When you used the hot key command to key an iVGA source for projection, the switcher would follow automatically, taking the iVGA source to record and/or streaming. The second "esc" hot key command would then reverse the process.

This thread from a while ago covers the same issue: http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74324
