I am making a forest scene. I'm using a emitter to create the amount of rocks I want. I save the emitters points as a transformed object. When I go to open it up modeler crashes.

What kind of emitter, a partigon emitter or a particle emitter?

An emitter creates particles or partigons, not objects.
Particles will only render if you assign hypervoxels to them, while partigons will render with or without hypervoxels.
A partigon is a single point polygon, as far as I know, though I might be wrong. It might be just a point, a single vertex.
But it looks like what you're seeing in your image there is hypervoxels set to OpenGL display. The hypervoxels themselves have no substance - they're an illusion, sort of, for all intents and purposes, and can't be exported. A voxel is a 3d pixel - a pixel with volume - and I guess they're hyper. ;)

Far as I know, that is. I would think even if you could export, you would get only points and not rocks in Modeler.

I dont have any hypervoxels applied to the emitters. And the particles are partigons. I just want to get the points into modeler so I can use point clone plus to create the rocks

Or try Particle Scan in MDD mode with LWO export,
http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96828

You should reload the exported lwo with the mdd file
applied in MD_Plug, then exported Transformed Object.

I dont really understand that plug in. Wheres the options for it? And is it suppost to just save emitters so you can use their points in modeler or does it do more?

With MDD option, Particle Scan plugin bakes your emitter
as mdd file, same format used in ClothFX or MD_Scan,
if you check "Create LWO Object" you will get also the
right cloud point object for applying the resulted mdd file.

Left, I added an emitter to the terrain object in Layout,
"Object Surface" mode, 1000 point, birth rate per frame,
then I added the Particle Scan in Displacement tab,
MDD mode and export LWO, Scan it,
reload the LWO in Layout, applied the mdd file in
Displacement tab with MD_Plug, save transformed.

Right, the resulted LWO loaded in Modeler.

I used partical scan on a emitter. But I get this error message. What does this mean?

Seems you missed to enter a valid path/filename
to output MDD.
