yeah was posted last week in a releated thread to someone ading another 3d app.

http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96297

i'm waiting for my download button to become active on my subs for 3dsmax, 2010 looks brilliant..just hope it's less buggy than 2009...i'm still mainly working on 2008 due to the buggy nature of 2009...it's usable but not as solid as max 2008 or max 9,8,7...

2009 does render faster...so mainly build in 2008 then render in 2009

hehe, no, that's pretty much just a feature i like,
Maya modeling... [ugh] not my kinda tea... :)You also have two other modeling plugins that do a few other things....Orion Flame 4 and Illusion Catalyst (free and has some other cool features beyond modeling)
Guess whose tutorial this is (illusion catalyst):

By the way...you don't really need that tool in Max. You can simply have Edge or Face constraint enabled, and use the Polyshift tool or use soft select (using a hotkey you can interactively change the radius of the soft selction on the fly) with those constraints enabled and move or rotate just like that Nex tool does.
That's really all that Nex tool is...to maintain volume, it only allows vertices or edges to along contiguous edges or faces (applying a face constraint).
Probably why you haven't seen a specialized tool for it...it's always been there if you relatively familiar with the tools

So, how much longer do we have to wait approximately till the release? I need to know in case I decide to buy Max whether to go for the Design or Max version. A salesperson already recommended to buy Design, so I don't know whether that's the way to go, as the Max version is supposed only to have the advantage of the SDK, which I don't need.

Once the product ships is when the trial downloads are available. Perhaps by the weekend.
I hope we find out about "XBR" during this process. It's been a bit like the lead up to the CORE reveal.
I wish you could download a trial of CAT, but that is reserved for subscription holders until the next release. The Softimage acquisition happened too late in the current development cycle for them to get it included in the 2010 release (much of that would include documentation and full integration/bug fixes).

So, is XBR still in development and appears later or is it already part of 2010?

So, is XBR still in development and appears later or is it already part of 2010?If we don't get some word on it shortly after the full product (boxes) ships, then I don't understand why Ken needed to drop the hint about it leading up to the 2010 release.
One of his little clues was "P1=2010"
