Hello!

Can anyone tell me where I will find appropriate information of what Core will cost if you do not apply now!

Letīs say that I will invest in CORE in Q4 2009 when hopefully bugs and shakiness in the new CORE is handled! Then it would of course be of interest to know what price figure NT has planned for future purchases!

LightWave v9 owners gain HardCORE™ membership for US$395 (Charter Member price) through March 31, 2009, beginning April 1, HardCORE™ annual memberships for LightWave v9 owners will increase to US$495.

LightWave CORE™ will retail for US$1495, LightWave CORE™ upgrades will be US$695 (so $695 once the product is 'finished')

If they go for a similar pricing structure for the next release it would probably be worth waiting for the start of CORE v.2, then you'll get the first release plus the beta of the next.

its like this

before march 31. 395$
after april 1. 495$
after CORE is final. 695$

for new customers, 1495$

if CORE 1 is not what you are looking for, but CORE 2 will be, then you will be able to skip CORE 1 without problems..meaning, you will get the typical LW upgrade price for it, what ever it may be then.

Do not confuse HardCORE membership with purchasing CORE. A HardCORE membership will get you a copy of CORE, but "membership" is (will) not a requirement to buy CORE.

Something tells me this brilliant "plan" was hatched before the economic crash.

Will Lightwave continue, or will we have to buy into Core? If we have to buy into Core why the price increase? It seems like every company out there thinks that raising prices will help them survive the "downturn".

lightwave 9.6 is the last of that particular software...there maybe a tweek for it to work alongside lightwave core for HC members but for those not jumping onboard HC then lw9.6 is the end of that particular product.

if you jump onboard HC now it's $395 plus next year's 12 month membership will also be $395 so is an ongoing discount for early adopters.

If you buy in at 395 then its again 395 to renew the next time and get Core 2.0..

If you buy in at 495 then its again 495 to renew the next time and get Core 2.0..

If you wait for the final 1.0 release then its 695.. .. but it may also only be 695 to go from LW 9 to Core 2.0? which makes me think..

Yeah, but bottom line is no one has the answer for HC pricing after Q4 - the core page says it's TBD. I.e., if you wait for Q4 and get v1, it'll cost you $695 just to get the SW but no HC membership (apparently), and it's not clear how much it'll cost to get on HC (to be set for getting v2).

True.... well Chuck did mention recently how NT doesn't penalize ppl that skip upgrades etc like other companies.. it also seems likely that after the special charter price to renew next spring there will be a jump to get to 3.0.. wont still be 395 I imagine :) but maybe thats getting ahead of things.. just that paying 695 a year for upgrades is getting steep for anyone not making money from from the software.

But maybe thats the idea.. LW core is not meant to be a hobbyist's app ultimately.. no more than Houdini is :)

Is there a list of qualified graphics packages to see if one can get the companion upgrade offer or is it just best to call?

If you purchase a v9 upgrade for $495 or $595 by March 31, which comes with HardCORE membership, are you considered a charter member so you get to renew membership next year at $395?

Yes.
