Hi, I want to purchase a model of a downtown scene or college campus with buildings, streets, parks, etc... I have found several online, but would like the model to be a LWO with all surface assignments and maps set up so I can bring it into Lightwave with no hassles. I have attached a few jpegs of the type of scene I'm looking for. Your help is appreciated.

One option would be for you to look into a program like CityGen. They can produce generic cities rather fast, but you may be looking for higher quality then that.

I think with a project like this you are going to have to deal with somebody actually taking the time to build it. What type of time frame are you working with?

What type of buildings are you looking to see in this city? I.E. are you looking for a generic skyline that could be NYC, Chicago, etc or are you looking for more unique buildings?

I don't know how many people have cities already built, I think you got lucky in your shopping :D

If you have a decent amout of time to work with I would be willing to try, but I am sure there are more experienced modelers who might want a shot at this before I :D

I would go here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/
and find the model you need.
Download the free version of sketchup from here:
http://sketchup.google.com/download/gsu.html
After youve installed sketchup download and install this free lwo exporter for sketchup:

CityGen is your Friend..
Have used it allot for the gaming companys to set up a background objects that were Dof'd for distance shots...
Works really good..
Then there is the Nurnie LScript i use with it to add a little variety..
