Hi , just thought i would let you know , i can run a poker server ! not the most advanced software but the overall effect is there , i can change the table cloth ect and control the variables ie chip stack and so on !

I should have the server up and running by tonight or tommorow , i have to host it from my home machine , but i can take up to 20 players per server , i have 50 meg broadband so i reckon i handdle the bandwith !

if your interested let me know , you can download the client and server from http://www.briggsoft.com/ if you dont want download anything you can play it via your web browser using flash , takes a minute or two to download , i have full version which we use on our own forum , it can be good fun , ill arrange a time for the near future and post the ip or server name for you to join in , you never know maybe it will catch on and we could run a NT league and maybe NT will give core as a winner prize "lol ye I wish " .

Peace

wow, you actually won something!

I always wondered whether people did...it would be so easy to fix the games because you wouldn't know whether you were just playing against a computer that gave you a bad hand...or even a bunch of people controlling the cards and acting as players.

Gambling is for losers, in both senses of the word.

Ha. I was in Vegas a few weeks ago for a conference. Walking through the casinos and seeing thousands of people throwing their money away made me laugh. I can think of a lot more things I would rather do then sit in a smoky casino with ugly carpet and put all my money into a stupid machine.

But to each their own. My friend's dad growing up did win 500,000 dollars on the nickel slot. A record I think at the time. So who knows. Of coarse a couple years later his parents were divorced so it just goes to show you it doesn't solve all your problems.

Of course some people win, but most don't, and those who do have the occasional win have spent far more in total just to get that win.
The chances of looking back at a life of gambling and having won more than you spent are extremely low.
I could stand the thought of losing money gambling. For me it's the same as just burning it, but it's just another symptom of a society where people have no needs and too many wants.

Once I won two tickets anywhere America West airlines flew. It was inside a Pepsi box, over the usual "Sorry, you are not a winner" text was a fluorescent orange sticker that said "You've won!"

We went to Puerto Vallarta and had a great time. I also won a 4 day ocean cruise from something, I can't remember what now.

I've never won anything. Or at least nothing worth remembering. I guess I have just always had to work for everything I have. I'm not saying your lazy if you gamble or win stuff, I just don't bide with the something for nothing mentality that so many people have.

I enjoy gambling but I don't play it with the slightest hope that I'll come out on top. It's simply a form of entertainment.

I take $50 to a casino and I accept that I will most likely lose that money. I do my best to offset that expense with free drinks and just try to make it last and enjoy the ride.

#your full of joy ! for FUTURE reference the poker server i run dosnt involve real money its just for fun ! everyone get a chip stack of 2000 at the start the rest is upto you .

also online poker sites i dont trust mainly bacause the algorthems are written to make flops and hole cards interesting , also the companies state that its totally random ,"how can something be random when a human writes its ?????? "

ps gambling is a mug game , but i didnt think that last week when i won 700 on the horses not bad for a 3 stake .

Of course gambling is also addictive, so once you start, it's not entirely a free choice as to whether you'll continue or not. I know people who've gotten into a lot of trouble because of gambling.

There are still a few sites where you can guarantee to win on roulette as long as you follow 'the system'...but most have become wise to it. I didn't have the time to dedicate to it as you need to start with such small amounts (10p or so) but a friend got over 100 within an hour from a 10 start and does it a couple of times a week for some extra cash.
