View Full Version : Title Crawl compressed to MPEG 2 creates distortion.

Hey all:

My clients are requesting more and more on DVD. I created a title crawl in CG. When I play it from the taoster it looks great. It even looks great when compressed to DV. However when I compress it to MPEG 2, I get some slight wave distortion which make it difficult to read. Any ideas. I'm using Vegas Video for the MPEG 2 compression.

I don't mean this answer to be offensive and don't want you to misinterpret this post, but if it looks good when compressed to other formats but when you use Vegas Video it adds a wavy pattern then I think you might find the answer to that question on a Vegas Video forum.

Otherwise, many VT users have had great success with TMPEnc.

Another possibility is that maybe you could save the CG page in a still image - progressive format and not interlaced. Perhaps it is wavy due, in part, to the image being interlaced?

Thanks for the reply. Sorrry it took a zillion years to answer. I fully realize that this was not a Vegas Video forum. However what I was looking for was your answer- TMPEnc. It is not one of the VT codecs. Where can I get this codec?

Also, I have no doubt that it's an interlacing problem. I'll try it prgressive.

TMPGEnc is a separate, user configurable software encoder. Many VT users use it.
VT[3] allows one to import VT[3] projects directly into TMPGEnc. for encoding.
