View Full Version : FFX - how to 'grow' hair

Take a look at the attached images - stubble, intermediate, beard.

I've got a project coming up where I need to grow a beard on an actor and I'm spending my Saturday doing some tests with FFX. I'm using some footage from video copilot of Sam Moya rambling and I've modelled a quick lower-face replacement which is been quickly matched to the scene (very rough).

The problem is that I'm trying to get the beard to grow on the model but it just looks like blobs or small pieces of plastic stuck to his face. I've set keys for the scale, from 0% to 150% but even at 0% the fibers are noticeable (see first image). It isn't until they get to the final length that they look anything like strands.

Is it possible to grow the hair realistically with FFX?

Would Sasquatch be able to do it if not?

Envelope the fiber Width so the fibers fade in as they grow longer, they won't be visible at 0 length.
