View Full Version : Question about Lightwave, before purchase

03-12-2009, 08:24 PM
My employer is looking to me for a suggestion, either Rhino or Lightwave. Im leaning Lightwave at this point because its a more complete program. What im curious about is rendering.
Do I need an external renderer, or is the Lightwave render fine?

I've been using Blender, and we just arent happy with the renders.

Thanks for any help.

Lightwave's renderer is one of the best out there...many studios render from lw, even though they animate in maya or max. There are 3rd party renderers like kray and fprime as well, but you dont need them.

I would say that right now, the renderer is LW's strong point. It used to be modeler but during the 9.x series, the renderer saw almost endless improvement. It's fast and it's pretty. The new version of LW, CORE, will be out late this year. It will probably have a beast of a modeler. So then you can have the best of both worlds. And you get CORE if you buy in now to LW I'm pretty sure.
