View Full Version : Groundhog Fog

Do anyone know about groundfog?
I would like to make a thin layer of fog just above a sea.
But Im getting poor results with Ground Fog. If I use Fast Fog I dont seem to be able to adjust the falloff, so the fog just starts from certain point.
And Ray Marcher gives stellar render times..

Isnt there possibility to tie groundfog into a null object?

Depending if and how you want the camera to move, you can always try layers of planes with procedurals on them - transparency, etc. to get that nice foggy wispy effect.....

Obviously not volumetric, but I have often wanted to do groundfog with the actual groundfog tools, but ultimately switched to faking it.

Just an idea.....

yeah procedurals on a plane will probably do it as a fake.
but do you want a constant fog layer over the sea..or slightly undulated with whisps?

a geometry plane subdivided a couple of times or a point cloud that is flattened could serve well..add hypervoxels sprite to that and scale the partice size up a bit..and use size variations...set a nice hypertexture and play with density contrast and hypertexture vale and scaling..that could work.
