I have a car model of 577000 polies, non subdivided, in modeler 9.6. When I move or zoom the viewport it takes about 11 seconds for the viewport to update. Is this normal behaviour?

This is on my mac pro, for the specs, see my sig.

Check your OGL settings I find that making sure its on the one that's NOT GSL (don't have lightwave with me now), and that it's on Buffered rather than streaming. Ond obvioulsy that legacy Open GL is not selected, are the best settings. Check them out I would say.

Thanks Gordonrobb, that did help. Now it is usable again :)

Also, trying to split the object into smaller chunks in separate layers will help. Even if you don't plan to animate those bits. So you might have the body in one layer, and the interior in another.
