The author of Jovian Color Picker has yet to produce a UB version. I vaguely recalled that OSX's color picker was extensible, so I went in search of ways to get similar functionality to what Jovian offered on UB LW. Along the way, I ran across the following article others might find interesting:

Good article on OSX color picker plugins (http://smokingapples.com/software/tutorials/deconstructing-macosx-color-picker/)

It may not be as all-in-one convenient as Jovian, but by adding plugins to the OSX color picker (and using that within UB LW), it is possible to get much of the same functionality, and some even Jovian doesn't offer. Better, the functionality gets added to any apps using the OSX color picker. Finally, folks who really want additional color picker functionality can write their own plugins for further additions.

Yeah, really fond of Mondrianum, and Painters Picker. Adding those two to the various built-in ones yields pretty decent picker abilities, system-wide. I'm working on throwing together a Kelvin picker plugin, that'll solve my last "common" need.

Kelvin... one of the reasons I stuck with the lw color picker - good idea, I'll try that too

That link led me to Adobe's Kuler site... pretty interesting... They have an OSX Dashboard widget for it as well.

Noice!
I'm wondering if there's something that can be done to make the picker work with a linear color workflow:

I would think that someone could do that.

I wish Kuler let you make groups with as many colors as you wanted. Not sure why they limit you to 5 colors.

Yeah, I'm looking into the what it would take to have my kelvin picker plugin also offer to convert to linear from monitor space. The answer might be as simple as integrating Mac's CM system, will let you know if anything interesting comes up.

Just so you guys know, I added some Kelvin color charts to adobe Kuler. So if you install Mondrianum you can do a search for Kelvin or my user name "JeffrySG" and then you can pick Kelvin colors from 1k to 10k.
