Hi, I hope this is not a stupid question.

Putting together an i7-920 system.

Should the DDR-3 RAM be in multiples of 3?

6, 9 or 12?

I remember the DDR2 should be square.

Does it make a big difference?

Thanks,
Jamie

Yup, for optimum memory performance you'd want to install memory using 3 identical RAM modules.
That gives you the option of 3, 6, 9, 12GB (and twice as much once 4GB modules are released) - assuming that your motherboard has 6 RAM slots.

Cheers
Mike

Not sure how much of a difference it would make, but they do say multiples of three is better: 3gb (3x1gb), 6gb (3x2gb), 9gb (3x2gb+1x2gb) and 12 gb (6x2gb)

Cool thanks!

I had looked at a few websites and nothing really said that straight out. All a bit to technical with things like latency.. ect... some day I will know it... then it will change again.. LOL

Thanks,
JM
