Hi all. I am trying to use Sky Tracer, but the background is black.
I tried with gradient background turned on and off.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is the background black in lightwave or when you export to another program? For the latter it is an alpha issue. Saving to a 24 bit file format or with alpha disabled will fix it.
For the former I am not sure about. Try removing sky tracer, reloading lightwave then re-adding skytracer. The was a bug that would cause issues when changing the procedural for the clouds.

What time do you have the Sun Position set for. Second, Minute, Hour, Day, Month, Year, and Location can all be configured. Also, I think the hour runs on a 24 hour clock (i.e. 1400=2:00 pm)

Good point. The sun could be below the horizon.

tHANX Silk! That's an easy fix, if that's the problem.

Thanks you guys. One of my most favourite sayings is "you can't see the trees for the forest"!
I was view the object looking down at it so the sky was not visible.

Cool! I'm glad it was such an easy fix. Now, I wish there was a ground tracer like the Skytracer feature. Maybe there is, but I've never seen anything like it in :lwicon:.

There isn't one, but there is a plug in that will create a ground plane. I don't recall which company created it, but should be listed on flay.com.

Is it called Terragen, Silk?

I am going through my favorites for plug in sites. Amazing how many aren't any good any more. Anyway I found one called TB Infinite Plane. http://home.att.ne.jp/omega/tabo/3dlabo/p_lwp.html
A few other good plug ins at that site as well. Sorry it isn't English you may want to try google's translator on the page.
I'll keep looking if nothing else I'll get my favorites cleaned out.

Sweet! tHANX, Silk!

I found that Terragen download through Flay.com. I haven't downloaded it yet, though. There are a non-commercial and commercial versions to choose from. Some pretty impressive landscaping renders from what I could see.

Terragen is a landscaping program similar to Bryce or Vue. The plug in I mentioned works just like the ground plane in Bryce or Vue. Its an infinite ground plane. I believe it can be textured but can't recall.

I'm trying to think of the usefulness of an untexturable ground plane... nope, it's not coming...

Heheh. Terragen 2 looks to be fantastic. Simply taking too long to get it final so I ended up going with Vue 7 which (so far) has been working really well for us. It IS expensive though (especially for network rendering if you are using xStream).
