Hi everybody
Can anybody help me with a few tips? A game company asked
me to do a test scene for an upcoming new game on Nintendo DS.
Until monday.
I work with Lightwave for a couple of years now, and have some experience
in 3DS Max and MODO. But i never developed something for
that platform. It has to be a character with a walk loop.
Does anybody know, where i can find information how to do that
or even better, a sample character, textured and rigged.

Your help would be great!

didn't they give you any guidelines about poly counts and texture size (and boune counts if skeletal animation is done)? When those are known I would assume it would be pretty straight forward to make the character as "usual".

I'm afraid I can't help about DS specifics, I haven't done anything with portables. A quick net search came up with this http://www.maxforums.org/thread.aspx?tid=533675&lp=true , maybe it helps.

They gave some specs:
Around 800 triangles
25 > 30 bones
Textures (max 64*64 pixels, 24 bits)
A vertex can only be influenced by a maximum of 2 bones

what I found out is that is pretty normal for a character on
DS. But whats this "vertex influence" ?

it means a vertex is not allowed to be affected (have weighting) by more than 2 bones.
