View Full Version : Hand brushed metal node setup? Anyone remember?

I remember (what seems like ages ago) that someone figured out a nice node setup to create a hand brushed metal look. (little circular patterns in the metal..)

Anyone remember and can point me in the right direction?

Hehe, that was Dave Jerrard and myself. The node flow was...long. :help:

Which kind of brushed circles are you interested in - a square grid of them, or the overlapping "fish scales" look?

Sadly, it looks like my old LW 9.0 beta .srf files don't work anymore, but there are some ways the effect would be easier to make with some of the plugins now available. :)

That would be the overlapping "fish scale" look please sir...
With the changes from 9 to 9.6, think this might be a fun time to revisit?

(BTW, I did try to find the old thread about this... I thought it was sticky at some point..)

Nope, not sticky, and it was really long, and it was before The Great Attachment Wipe...

Here's a new .srf for it. It's a bloody mess, but it's not quite straightforward making the "fish scale" look. :screwy:

Thank ya!

(You are right, its rather complicated...)

It seems to work, now if I could just only understand it :stumped:
