Hi Guys

Today is my birthday. And I wouldnt usually tell it out laud like this, if it didn't coincided.... well almost coincided with the birthday of my Country, which is tomorrow :)

The other reason why Im telling it before it happens, is that some of you may actually choose to come for the celebrations this time! And dont want you to say 'Diedon, we cant just come instantly there, we need at least a day to pre-arrange stuff here first!' . Well here you are then, one day to pre-arrange stuff ;)

My offer still stands. You know what does the meaning of THE "GUEST" means to us by now, plus its nation wide celebrations, plus your my talented friends that I charish, so its at multiple levels again.

Basically, wanna feel like holy beeings, then come and be our guests!

We are now 1 year old ;D , still a 'baby'. But I sometimes imagine this 'baby' with a long white beard and old skin, among oldest skins in Europe.

For those of you that missed it then, a year ago, then here's a video, that kinda sums it up:

http://current.com/items/88856328/kosova_the_birth_of_a_new_state.htm

The planned celebrations for this year are music, serious music - filharmony, rock music, fun, gatherings, fireworks and such.

It seems like the celebrations tend to get less exciting on every year. So time is ticking guys, you still have a chance to be a part of this you know?! :jester:

P.S - If any provocations or any attempts at ruining this party happen again this year guys, then just ignore and rejoin the party. Id hate to have another wonderful thread ruined like this. I may link this one on my signature again for another year like the one I had before.

So the topic is fun celebrations in Kosova Republic, no hijackers please :)

And if anyone decides to come, I should tell you, you WONT EVER regret it, Ill personally make sure of that! All you should do is PM me for details :)

Best
Diedon

Right, had my freshly squezed orange juice, mixed with honey, just now... Anyone tried it? Delicious. Im planning to treat my guests with that, today and tomorow.

Im gonna make a tour now around the city, and come back with pictures for you. One picture has milions of words thing. Am planning to show what potentially awaits the one that decides to get here :hey:

Cheers

Happy birthday! What are some traditional things you might do? Have a cake and ice cream, or do you hit the tavern/bar for some margaritas?

Oh dont ask :) . What they do is, they pull your ears upwards as many times as your age is. Im 29 :help:

Traditionally by pulling your ears upwards, so much up that you reflexively rize to your toes up, they show their good will at wanting you as a kid to grow and be the good man everyone wants you to become.

But as you grow up, the ones that goten use to do it to you, just do it now as a joke anymore :) . Cause certainly Im even taller than they are at present state, and beeing 1.87cm I need to grow no more. And cant, even If I wanted to!

Not sure about the origins of that behavior though?! Does anyone else knows where it may be used as a ritual thing upon someones birthday?

That and a party of gatherings, and you get to buy things that you like, which are more common everywhere else. Thats how Ive gotten my LW, my tablet, my upcoming HP battery, and the like LOL

Anyway we went out tonight. They are all preparing for tomorow. The downtown here is called Shadervan, spelled SCHAD-ERV-AN, its THEE most frequented area in Prizren. And a nice place to meet girls :)

This it looks like will be a Rock show for the big day tomorow. Pretty quiet now though!

All flags are everywhere again. And just below the lights there are some.
We went out with my musician tonight. Ilir is his name. He made music to my movies and the animation for Stan Dragoti.

Guess whos me?

Hes a talented musician, turned top famous rocker in Kosova. Rockery and all the naughty things attached to it :hey: . You can see his latest work here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jn_KpMOgfE

And one song from the good old days of one of the best rock musics in town named HARD.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbK2SBvHwEU

And now he is a freelancer music compositor. Anyone wants to contact him, you can do it by me. Im sure that the two of you can agree on the price ;)

Time is ticking guys, you sure nobody wants to be here? I have the wine ready!

Nighty night everyone, sleep well. Feel free to type anything that you feel in here. Were just having fun here you know...

Spanking! Seriosly?! Interesting... Is there anything behind the bahavior to support it? The only thing that comes to my mind is that by each hard spank youll want to jump and grow up faster!

Hey Stel, I didnt saw you before. Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the blast... for it has started :D:D .... The overexcitement of the celebrations ... It like rushing through my vains!

Good patriotic songs on TV so far, and casual questions for the walking by passengers. There are phone calls from Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and even Serbia, congratulating this day! On the TV there!

The temperatures... Well lets say that it too has done its best in order to meet the expectations of last year, it has dropped again.

Theyre showing the troubles we went through to get thus far in independence. I think this day should be somekind of international thanksgiving day!

Well be going out to see how hot it is this time outside! Though its 3 Degrees C. Improvement from -10C last year!

Ill get back to you with pics.

Later :)

Thanks Flakester and Fadlabi

I just came back, my feet hurt from walking, and frankly Im hungry : ) .

And... where do I start. At the begining it wasnt as crowded. Here is the NATO bridge as they call it.

And the quiet Rock music area as shown yesterday.

And another angle

But just while I was looking at what were the Schoolchidren organizing for today!

They started coming!

And the place was too crowded in seconds afterwards!

Look at that NATO bridge now!

Complications on the roads was to be expected, as Trucks, Bikes and hundreds of cars, filled with flags, wanted to get through horning in celebration and barely moving along!

In the middle of it all, I thought I should make some kinda tradition. There were baloons with the Albanian and Kosovar flags. 0.5 Cents they cost each, so I purchased some 20 or so, and wrote 'With love from Kosova", "From Kosova to Albania with Love" and such, cause the river goes to the neighbouring Albania see. So it will cary the message physically from one country to another.

Wonder how far it goes! Both the baloons and the idea/tradition of course

I so understand this sudden withdraw from comment thingy. It seems you dont want to touch whats hot :) Its your call guys. Do as you wish really :o . I told you I wasnt going to inflame anything, just like I aint doing it till now. But for me, the growing number of viewers alone is good enough.

So I get you. You dont want to appear your agitating anyone by making your comments here. Im alright, with that. And Id like to thank you for reading even. No worries. Its fine as it is.

If you dont show up at all here, it would be rude. And if you say 'to hell with it' and make a comment, you feel like your agitating some here. Thus the compromise of just reading is fine by me, if its fine by you.

I get the kicks from beeing able to share this joyful event with you here. Some meaning goes through to you, and I so hope that you get the joyful atmosphear at the other end. Just like the baloons are on their way to another country, I hope this all gets to you. Sharing it for the masses, that is all I ask. Especially if the masses are talented and friendly people such as you . Its wonderful really :o Its like, 'look at whats wonderful things are heppening on a country we all contributed to have together'.

So, erm... Keep on reading guys. And many thanks for all.

And now we are going for the famous fish restaurant! The one I planned to go with you all along. I so wish you were one of my guests here :)

Ill show you pictures when I come back. Later .

Thanks IMI. I appreciate it.

Regarding my prediction, yeah definitely. I just knew it coming ; ) . I also knew that it wont ever be as good as the last years thread. Man those were the times...

Anyway, here is the restaurant that you guys skipped this year. Better hope for next year then huh

I shoulda removed that bloody bag of mine thogh!

The fish are caught fresh on their fish pool behind this restaurant. We usually celebrate here at Myfabeli's. Some 30 mins from Prizren. Everything is delicious really, as youll see from our impressions:

And for an ending, unless I see some other good thing worthy of the 'repot' :), Id put this cool image I took today. Its a kid dressed with Albanian traditional clothes, together with my kid.

Is anyone up for a game?

Say for some magnificent reason, you were there with me! What would you have ordered and what would you have done :) .

If I cant have you for real, then perhaps I can have you here in cyberly fashion :hey:

Yes no problem!

Kamarier! Points one finger at the waiter

(See somewhat funny incorrect translation at http://translate.google.com/translate_t?hl=en&sl=sq&tl=en#)

Turns to IMI

Yes theyll take your fish away now, and will come back with your skinned and headless fish. You know IMI, your just like my wife!

Cutts the head of wifes fish on her plate with a knife vulgarly

She too cant stand to see the head of the fish LOL

Anyone else wanna make our dinner at Myfabelis wealthier by their presence here and now?

BTW what will it be for drinks IMI?

Issues the Menu

What brand?

You have Becks (http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/mryan/becks.jpg), Native Peja Beer (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ardianh/2480956654/) and Effes (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mulia/322090430/)

But considering these special occasion and circumstances, I guess you can have ANY BEER possible or impossible on earth or beyond LOL

Beck's I've heard of and I buy occasionally, the others, I dunno about.
How about Guinness Stout? You have that there? Best beer ever brewed, IMO.

Well it certainly looks like a very inviting little black beer! But its not much in use over here. Thus I doubt that they would have it at that restaurant. And Myfabeli is located at a more natural suborbian area, thus I couldnt send someone at the mall, which is downtown, to get some for you!

But if youd told me earlier (like before going to the restaurant) we would be looking for it at the malls. I think I saw some there...

And for salads?

I think Id be trying Guinness Stout!

As the celebrations have ended now, and we gather to speak of how much fun and how did each celebrated. I just sat with my chief installer.

He says that his girlfriend from Serbia decided to come for independence celebrations! And that they had told her previosly that 'Dont go there, Albanians are murderers theyll kill you on sight!!' and such, and that she was terrified to even speak out her own language.

So then she is told to do so in the middle of Shadervan there. That as I told you, its THEE most frequented area. And she asked him three times weather she should go ahead and speak in Serbian or not, before she actually did so!

Then he took her up the mountains for a grand view of the celebrations at night, and after she wanted to enter the mosque too, she was taken there aswell. But after having a bath and abdes first.

After all the touring, her coments according to my installer were 'I was always told of the worse for Albanians, but now having witnessed the whole ceremony with my own eyes, now I see that ours are as such for having it projected on you!'

True story! It just happened! My installer wanted me to give a day off prior to independence day, without telling me who the guest is. And I thought that it was some cousin or so. So I allowed it. Im so glad that I did :)

So, nothing beats your own eyes guys. Whenever you pass by in South East Europe, dont forget to stop by in Republic of Kosova! Be it when the whole country celebrates independence or not!

Cheers!

To be honest, after four wars and 30 years of service, I don't really care to tell war stories. I get about eight hours a night of replays in my head. But the next time I am over your way, I promise to stop in and tell you all the stories you want to hear. That is, of course, if you are buying the beer.

I was trained in photo and broadcast journalism in the Army, and my favorite times by far were serving in the Army's Mobile Public Affairs Detachments (MPAD) - the infamous "Combat Camera" Units. I started a video production company after I retired last year, bought a Tricaster Broadcast, and here I am.

I am sure you have seen the "Kosovo" war send-up video done to the tune of "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys? I had nothing to do with it but I am sure you may get a laugh out of it.

Well, calling a Command Sergeant Major a "sergeant" is kind of like calling the Pope a "bishop", but having said that, Serge Steve sounds kind of cool.

I will try to dig up some old Kosova material, it has been four of five moves ago so buried in boxes somewhere. All of my recent stuff is Iraq and Afghanistan.

I hope you have recovered from your party!

Ok the, Serge Steve it is :) . Man, we have all kinda proffessions at our forums man. Army personel, Huge Company Vice Presidents, freelancers and God knows what else.

Funny you should say though about me recovering. Immediately after Independence celebrations, temperatures dropped, and and it seems its somekinda influenza, that has stroke plenty of people really bad.

Including me. And am recovering from it in a natural way. Cause I hate using pills and resort to them as final means. I stubornly try to heal with alot of liquids and relaxing way, rather than resort to taking pills.

Looking forward for those pictures then, hope you find them.
