Hello All,
We just finished a “making of” video for a project we wrapped up a few months ago with Toyota / Lexus. Model duties were shared with Modo and all the animation, surfacing, rendering, etc was done in LightWave.

View the video here. (http://www.byhook.com/video/telematics.html)

That was just SO COOL!

But come on... I mean, only nine Red Bulls? You can't honestly expect anyone to believe that!

My bad. Caffeinated Dyslexia is my only excuse...

Excellent video, in any case.

Awesome work! It really makes me want to get my modo chops working.

Any chance you might provide us with some lighting and texturing info for the scene?

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

Lighting is just 1 DP Infinite Light with Final Gatherer and 7 bounces.

Texturing is pretty straightforward expect for the car paint. That was based on the Tobian car paint node. See this thread (http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88356)

For the final composite, we used a couple buffer exports (Shaded Reflection / Depth) a couple Matte passes and an AO.

Cool! pls give me a message when you finish and post it here.

Play The Getaway on your Playstation in your down times. That way, you'll stay immersed in it full time!

Down time? What is that? I have also heard of something called "sleep".

It was an on and off project over a 4 month period with 2 - 4 people working at times. Some of that time was also used up by the typical client revisions and reinvention.

In total, the project was 11 shots across 2 brands ranging in length from 12 - 30 seconds.

Looks like you have a pretty mean work flow with Modo, I'm just wondering, have you modeled using LWCAD? I'm just wondering what your thoughts would be between the two. I love LWCAD, but like I said, it seems like you've got a pretty mean workflow there.

Well... some of them are pretty boring, as they weren't meant to be standalones. So... probably never. =)

We haven't used LWCAD, so I can't speak to it vs. Modo. We don't do much true Arch Viz work in general.

'Did You See The Words' by Animal Collective was the song.

That was freakin' awesome! Great work and perfect music! So really, how long did it take to create all that and was it just you or a team of people?
