Im running both 9.31 and 9.6 on my machine and im sure they are sharing the same preference files. How do i prevent this. I remember reading somewhere that you can assign them locally to the LW folder app folder itself but ive trawlled the forums and cant find it.

Anyone?

Hi,
for infos, just download the "Chuck Baker Installation Guide"
It's quit easy to do for a single user setup.
To me, it seems that 9.3 and 9.6 prefs are different files by default.
(I deleted my 9.3 install with all the prefs and with 9.6 I only get one prefs folder:
usr/Library/Preferences/Lightwave3D.
With 9.3, I remember that there was a bit more of a clutter of single pref files: "com.newtek.LightWaveModeler.plist", "LightWave Modeler 9 Prefs", "LScript Prefs", "LightWave3D/RounderConfigs.txt" and so on).

Bingo....

"UB LightWave configuration files can be changed by placing the 'redirected' config files
into a folder named "Preferences" in the same folder containing the Layout and Modeler
applications."

thanks Roger

you're welcome!

just an addition (just realized): pref files "com.newtek.LightWave.Modeler.plist ..." are installed by 9.6 too (hadn't re-installed my keyboard shorts and now I'm seeing these com.newtek.plist files, so these are shared by 9.3 and 9.6).
