We still need more images for the LW book... At the moment we can use the renders of 12 LW users. This accounts for only 31 images.

Please submit your images to [email protected] or submit them here.

Thanks

John

When is your deadline to submit to your book?

sidewing

The official due date was August 22d. We don't have enough good material at the moment so it all depends on the LW users.

The more renders we recieve, the more we start thinking towards a final date...

I would say: spread the word!

Thanks,

John

Riki,
Can you send in a few of your favorite?

Herve,
I like this image very much. Very nice texturing. You alway's have nice renders! is this a 1700th chair? Would you mind to send it to [email protected]?

Paul,
Pretty cool image. Scenes should be fine as long as there is something architectural in it like that what you have.

Below you will find some of the great images that have been sent in by LW users.
Thanks guy's!

yes yes nice render Bog, may I say something ? I would make the border of pages a bit more "rotten"......

cheers, later, Hervé

yes indeed what are the specs. ?

Hetvé,

You may indeed say that :D you can't see it in the stills, but the pages are truly frayed. Trot down to the British Library sometime - these book re-creations are on a big-ole' 36 inch plasma touchscreen. You turn the pages by stroking it :D

They look plenty frayed then :D

You might have to expand the categories. I mean, either add more or expand the breadth. In other words, allow castles and sci-fi cities under "architectural". Perhaps allow SOME spaceships (original designs, no Enterprises or B5s unless you worked on the series).
I think a category for "realistic, life-like humans" would get you a bunch of images.

btw - I just sent you more samples then just that radial artery pic (I feel a bit overwhelmed seeing it there amongst all those other images). I'm so behind in my work at the moment. I thought I'd have this whole cross-sectioned heart done by now....<sigh>

Since yesterday we received some great renders!

Riki:
The final image resolution should be 300 dpi. However, for sending in your "pre-qualified" images, any res. is fine. A zipped TIFF format would be the best when sending in your final render.
A 5 inch (appr. 13 cm) should be the minimum size.
I just received your 2 images. They look great!

Zarathustra:
I like your idea about expanding the categories into the Sci-fi field.
In many way's, it is true architecture!
Lets vote on that one...

I prefer not to go with character design. You are right about the fact that we would receive more images. However, it would just become another "everything counts" book.
The main purpose of this book is to show the power of LW in the architectural/mechanical (including sci-fi?) and medical world.
Otherwise we also could go a step further and accept renders from non-LW users.
I'm open for suggestions however!

Keep sending in your renders but please make sure that you are able to provide a 300 dpi when the due date arrives.
Once we have enough renders, we will make a due date. So far, we don't have sufficient (good) material.

Hi sidewing (or John) what kind of resolution you want ?

I will submit some of my work this week, sorry I forgot this book “again”, you should try to make a sticky treat on the newtek and cgtalk forum…Sorry just to many things going on in my head lately....
Hehe I realy need a secretary...:D
I can submit a resolution up to 2400x3300 pixels, I guess that would be to big (22mb .tif file ) !!!

Robinson

Hi Robinson,

That resolution would mean 11 Inch and would be great!
Don't worry about the major file size. Just zip it to max. After we make our final selection public, we will open our server for the heavy uploads.
You will find small images (thumbnails) of your work posted on this forum after this final selection date.
Looking forward to your image.

Finally the images start rolling in! We received today great renders from 7 LW users. I would like to go for approximately 120 images.

Let's go ahead with including the Sci-Fi selection.

Impressive!
Very nice renders.

Probably because this threat is getting bigger but no: this is not a request for renders of books (although those images were very nice!). The purpose is still: publishing a LW book with mechanical and medical renders to increase awareness of LW and Mechanical/medical 3D design in general...

Could you please send them to: [email protected] ?

At the moment we have received a lot of high quality 3D LW renders. We still need at least 50 images more to make the final selection. The best once will soon be posted.

Here's one... Btw, the email address you posted does not work. It sends back emails, which is no fun for 5 MB emails ;) Anyhow, hope you like.

Thanks for all the great images! We are getting every day between 15-30 renders.

My biggest request to all: Please send in a SMALL render(s) first. We will notify you personally with the request for a .tiff file (if we are going to publish your image).

Several people sent in files like 6-7 megs... Our 100 megs server will be open to all after the final selection has been made.

Kuzey: You have a great style! We will keep these in consideration.

Chalo: I did receive your email.

Thanks all!

John

I didn't realize Sci-Fi was included. I guess it is future engineering. Does this include robots/mechs also?

We haven't received any renders lately...

If anybody wants to have their work published please send in a small jpg for approval.

And yes, robots should be fine.

How is the book comming? Do you have enough images yet? or how many more do you need?

sidewing
09-18-2003, 02:44 PM
At the moment there are approximately 50-60 good renders that could be used. We still need more renders to create a book like that. 100 - 150 images would be the bare minimum...

Please keep sending more material for approval. I will post the approved renders soon.

Thanks!
