I would REALLY like to see some high quality, detailed professional training vids, similar to those on the modo training site. I think LW is sorely lacking in this area.

Cheers.

So you are being given 24 hours of FREE training and you are being picky about it?

Wow.

Where is the free training on the site you linked to? Those are all purchases?
You want to purchase LW Training?

Its not the free...its the quality and completeness and topics. I have nothing agianst what is there now. But it could be a whole lot better. Check out the modo site above fror examples of what I mean. I think this would drastically improve the marketability for LW.

Cheers.

There is plenty of training available for LW. Free and Paid.

Are you saying you think they need to post links to the training for sale on the site?
I looked at the links you posted. That was how I found out they weren't free.

Did you check the ones I posted? There are quite a number of alternatives for training.

Yes, I looked at the links you posted (actually, I already knew about those). But, you are missing the whole point of this thread. Please don't get so defensive.

LW is good, the training they offer needs to be improved. It was never about the cost, just the quality and completeness and the type of tutorials being offered. I have yet to see the same quality and completeness of training that Modo offers, regardless of price.

Just my opinion.

Cheers.

If I was William I would be offended right now. He goes out of his way to provide over 24 hours of free training. Sure he probably could have combined some of them, but it would make if difficult for some viewers to watch them, thats why they are smaller than one you would purchase.
As far as that goes, I think Dan and Larry would also be offended as they provide commercial tutorials.
I can bet you did not purchase every tutorial available so I don't see how you could make such a comment.

Really? I have found the videos on NewTek's site to be quite well done..specially considering they arent charging you for them. The ones that Kurv offers are also very well done and very complete. You can also look at vfxcast.com for more.

And for how well the Luxology ones are, I cannot say because all they show are still renders..there isnt even a demo version you can watch...

Also note that the free vids on the newtek site are by mostly one guy and are geared toward a specific feature.

Plus, was it mentioned, they're free?

You guys are missing the point of this discusion. So I am ending it here. Thanks for ruining my post. It wasn't a point to argue, just a request for improvemnents and what could be done with tutorials. It had nothing to do with price.

Iwanmtr, you obvisoly didn't check out the linkks I provided as there are sample videos on the site, not just stills.
Silkrooster you are not Will, so I hardly think he would want you voicing your opinon for him.

So Defensive some of you are...gees!

erich, you seem to miss the point...you want professionally produced training vids, which there are (check Kurv again)..but we're pointing out that the vids here are free and rather well done, considering that there isnt a whole team putting them together..one guy..

Personally, I'd rather NewTek pt together top notch software and manuals with their money than hiring a team to build tutorials...and just because a tutorial is full of flashy stuff, doesnt mean it's actually better...I prefer a vid that gets to the point and shows me what I want, rather than having to wait through all the flashy stuff...

I got one of Mr. Schultz's character series courses and I have to say that both the content and the presentation were absolutely top quality. Besides that, he offered personalized coaching to everyone who purchased the videos, which put them in a class of their own.

I had the chance to see a part of the LeMans modo video and it was also excellent quality. I guess the OP's point was that Lux has all the commercial training videos displayed in one page on their site while Lightwave commercial tutorials are available only from the sites of the creators, right?

That was one of my last questions. Was the point that NewTek needs to have links to available training videos on the NT website? Or like AVID select a course they like and give it the stamp of approval and sell it on their site?

So users don't have to go find training, NewTek will show them where to buy training?

Was this the point of the post? Because that I could agree with.

Just looking at the modo site, it looks like they created the vids in house, or rather hired people to do it.

And yeah, Larry will work with people on an individual basis to get something to work,
which is something you probably dont get when you buy the modo videos.

Maybe NewTek should put links to Kurv, VFXCast and such.

This sounds like he's saying there are no professionally produced tutorials..
not that there should be links or more resources..

If it was about more resources, it should have been worded differently.

Try Dan Alban tutorials, those are great.

Yes, I've always enjoyed Dan Ablans materials.

The thing is, once you are familar with the tools (and the 24 hours + of free training on Newteks site will do that for you), you can use tutorials from other software packages. Most tools have equivalents in other packages.
