My work is offering to pay for more advanced training in LightWave. I consider myself an intermediate user and am looking for ways to advance my skills especially in rigging and character animation. Some advanced modeling would be nice too. I’ve read the books and done online tutorials but would like to work in a medium wear I can ask questions. On line or on sight are both options.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Any book and video recommendations are appreciated too.

Thanks

Look at Larry Schultz' Online 3D training. He has computer DVDs about every aspect of rigging and building characters. He also has forums, he gives critiques... it is a very cool thing.

I'll second the Larry Shultz action, if you're interested I'm also going to be selling all of my rigging/animation DVDs that I have. :)

For books, you NEED The Animators Survival Kit (http://www.amazon.com/Animators-Survival-Kit-Richard-Williams/dp/0571202284/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233949433&sr=8-1). It's helped me so much it's not even funny.

Also, even though it's a bit old now at this point, Jonny Gordon's LW8 rigging/animation (http://www.amazon.com/LightWave-Cartoon-Character-Creation-Animation/dp/1556222548/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1233949544&sr=1-2) book is great too. I found it useful even recently with 9.6.

Also there were some threads in the beta forum for 9.6 that were immensely helpful, if you have access to it, let me know and I'll show you the links. Otherwise the beta forum will be gone soon and that information will be forever lost. :(

Thanks for the response. I am going to look into Larry’s classes. I missed out on taking classes from him at a community collage in ABQ by one term. You could tell he was a great instructor by the work his former students created. And I will be purchasing the animation survival kit but will wait until the release of CORE before I build up my LightWave library.

I'd like to recommend Keith Lango's VTS. Great Stuff. Not LW specific but still good.
