Hi,

With layers, there is a way to fake an HDRI with a classic image by using it in the luminosity channel and then "pushing" the bright areas by stacking a gradient (input : previous layer) on top of it.

What would be the best way to achieve the same thing with nodes? :bangwall:

I'd do something like this...

That's what I wanted...but what is the add node useful for?

Anyway, thanks!

It just makes it so the brightness value will be 100% (1.0) or higher, since otherwise it could darken parts of the image instead of just brightening the bright parts.

Not nodal, but other way is with Picturenaut's FakeHDRI filter (http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/plugins.html). It works with HDRShop 1 and 2 as well.
